ALCAR is the stabilised form of the amino acid L-Carnitine. It plays an important role in the transfer and utilisation of long-chain fatty acids, which are used in the production of energy. ALCAR helps to maintain cellular energy metabolism by assisting in the transport of fats through the cell membrane and into the mitochondria where they are oxidised to produce ATP. ALCAR may also play a role in cognitive function by supporting production of the neurotransmitter acetyl choline.
