Litozin Joint Health is a patented food supplement derived from Rosehips which has been the subject of several scientific studies. The active ingredient GOPO was discovered over 20 years ago in Denmark and significant levels can only be obtained if the rose-hips are dried using a special patented process.
The study, a randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial, published in the Scandinavian Journal of Rheumatology, also found that those taking GOPO reduced their use of painkillers like paracetamol, ibuprofen and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).
The study followed another by scientists in Norway which found that the mobility of osteoarthritis sufferers was boosted by 40 per cent after they took the same herbal remedy.
Rosehips have long been used as a traditional medicine in Europe, the Americas and China to treat arthritis, colds and flu, bladder stones, dry skin and premature ageing.
The berries are often taken in syrup form or crushed down to make rosehip tea. In Sweden, rosehip soup with cream is a traditional dish and Danes enjoy rosehip marmalade. As well as vitamin C, rosehips contain vitamins A, B1, B2, B3, and K plus powerful antioxidants.
