Chromium occurs in nature as a complex containing 3 amino acids, which make up what is called the “glucose tolerance factor”. Without this complex, chromium is unable to be used in the body. Chromium from food and Food State Chromium contain the GTF complex, whilst other chemical forms of chromium do not.
Chromium, as the essential part of Glucose Tolerance Factor (GTF), has a vital role to play in the following:
- Carbohydrate metabolism;
- Insulin metabolism and balance;
- Enzyme activity related to the metabolism of glucose and the synthesis of fatty acids and cholesterol; and the
- Transport of protein to where it's needed.
