Rutin is a water-soluble citrus bioflavonoid, often referred to as vitamin P, a flavonol glycoside comprised of quercetin and the disaccharide rutinose (rhamnose and glucose).
Rutin functions synergistically with vitamin C in regard to maintaining healthy capillaries, assisting with collagen production in connective tissue, increasing the integrity of the venous wall and muscular tone of the vein. Aids in wound healing and supports a healthy immune system.
Rutin is reputedly effective in treating haemorrhoids, poor blood circulation, varicose veins and skin bruising.
