This herb is almost identical in action to Oregon grape due to the similarity in their chemical anti-viral, anti-fungal herb that strengthens and protects the membranes that line the lungs, gut, skin and urinary system. Golden Seal combats all kinds of infections and organisms such as Candida and parasites getting a foothold in the body. It is also perfect for the treatment of respiratory infections and allergies. It strengthens the skin and combats inflammation and scaling of the skin as occurs in eczema and psoriasis. Golden Seal, like Oregon grape is an excellent treatment for conjunctivitis and blepharitis. The berberine containing herbs, Oregon grape and Golden Seal are also useful in the treatment of conditions that affect the lining of the womb, such as fibroids or endometriosis. Combines well with Oregon grape, Echinacea and Astragalus. Do not use Golden seal if pregnant or breast-feeding. Do not use golden seal if you have gall stones. Not suitable for children; a milder alternative is Oregon grape.
